Light Bulb Snowman Ornament - Christmas Craft
Light Bulb Snowman Ornament
Upcyle a burned out lightbulb and rescue a snowman!
I do not know how they attached the twig arms, but you can leave them off. Roll a glue covered light bulb in glitter and then the rest is done in puff paints. Attach a hanger and you have a really cute ornament for the tree that would have ended up in the garbage.

A Very Cool Way to Give Money as a Gift
Instead of giving a check or a gift card in a card, here is a pretty neat way to give someone money as a gift.

Wine Bottle Lamp - Gift Idea!
This is one of the gifts I made for Christmas to give. It is nice to sit on a kitchen counter or a bar. You can use a wine bottle or any glass container. A friend of mine did it with glass blocks. Use a drill bit that is made for glass or ceramic (big enough to put the lights through) and then a string of lights. Super easy and frugal!
Chocolate Dipped Pretzels - Gift Idea
This is a super easy treat or gift to make. Simply dip pretzel rods into a melted bark and roll in the goodies you would like.
Lay them out on a non-stick cookie sheet and pop them in the fridge until they are firm.

Leftovers: Transform your mashed potatoes into pancakes
Leftovers: Transform your mashed potatoes into pancakes
I must admit that I could eat leftover mashed potatoes for days. An extra dribble of moisture (water, milk, gravy), a little spin in the microwave and I am good to go. However, I do realize that there are other folks out there who possess slightly more elevated palates. They want something more than mashed potatoes for days after Thanksgiving. For those folks, I suggest turning those mashed taters into cakes.
The sibling of latke, these potato pancakes are creamy on the inside and crisp on the outside. Search for mashed potato pancakes on the internet and you'll get a vast assortment of recipes. My favorite way to do it includes a couple of beaten eggs for binding, a few tablespoons of flour for extra texture and some finely diced onion or chives for a bit of extra flavor. You can also stir in some shredded cheese if you to give them added flavor (Parmesan cheese is excellent in mashed potato pancakes). After the jump you'll find my favorite recipe, which originally comes from Sara Moulton's Cooking Live show.
Mashed Potato Pancakes
from Cooking Live with Sara Moulton
2 cups mashed potatoes
1 large egg, beaten lightly
6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
11/2 tablespoons grated onion
2 tablespoons chives
Salt and pepper
Vegetable oil, for frying
Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
In a bowl combine well the potatoes and the egg, stir in the flour thoroughly, and stir in the onion, chives, and salt and pepper, to taste.
In a large heavy skillet, heat 1/8-inch of the oil over moderately high heat until it is hot but not smoking. Fry heaping tablespoons of the potato mixture, flattening them slightly with the back of the spoon, for 1 minute on each side, or until they are golden brown. Transfer the pancakes as they are cooked to paper towels to drain and if desired, keep them warm on a rack set on a baking sheet in a preheated 250 degree oven.

by: When the Dinner Bell Rings

1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup white vinegar
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
2 tablespoon corn syrup
2 tablespoon Parmesan cheese
2 tablespoon Romano cheese
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt, or one clove garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/2 teaspoon parsley flakes
1 tablespoon lemon juice
sugar (optional)
Instructions
Place all ingredients in a blender until well mixed. If this is a little too tart for your own personal taste, add a little extra sugar. You can enjoy your Olive Garden salad dressing for about 10 days if stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Another great use for the Olive Garden salad dressing is as a marinade for vegetables or even meats that you might like to grill. So you can see the Olive Garden salad dressing can be used in more than one way.

FAQ
Why is it only a “semi-whole foods” cookbook? Most of the recipes would satisfy even a hardcore foodie. Nonetheless, in some recipes you will find an ingredient or two that may not quite meet the traditional definition of “whole foods” (i.e. soy sauce, hominy, etc.).
Do you use a bunch of strange or hard-to-find ingredients?
Not at all. Just about all the ingredients can be found in your local grocery store and many things you’ll already have in your pantry.
How can I get the book?
It is an e-book, so you can download it here or by clicking any of the purchase links throughout this page. When you check out, you’ll get an email from us with a unique download code for the file.
Can I get a printed version of the book?
Yes. Download a copy and print it yourself. Okay, just kidding. For now, to keep costs low, this will be a digital version only. You will receive a .pdf file, so you will be able to print as much or as little of the book and the recipes as you like from the file you will receive.
Can I see some of the recipes that are in the book?
Sure! You can see a complete list of the recipes here.
Give me an example. Can I see a sample from the book?
No problem. My readers voted and said they wanted to see my recipe for Cheesy Sausage Potatoes (click to download a .pdf straight from the book).

Simple Shower and Tub Cleaner
Simple Shower and Tub Cleaner
Not only are the ingredients so simple, but for me, the idea of using a dish
wand was brilliant, since I'm usually a more tedious "spray and wipe
cleaner."
All you have to do is fill a dish wand with half vinegar and half Dawn dish liquid. Before you use it the first time, make sure you keep the wand upright so the liquid doesn't leak out. It's so simple to run a little water in the shower, and then scrub it down with the dish wand, rinse it well, and then take your shower.

KFC Secret Spice Mix
KFC Secret Spice Mix
1 tablespoon rosemary
1 tablespoon oregano
1 tablespoon powdered sage
1 teaspoon powdered ginger
When the Dinner Bell Rings
1 tablespoon rosemary
1 tablespoon oregano
1 tablespoon powdered sage
1 teaspoon powdered ginger
1 teaspoon marjoram
1 ½ teaspoon thyme
3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons dry minced parsley
1 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon paprika
2 tablespoons garlic salt
2 tablespoons onion salt
2 tablespoons powdered chicken bouillon; or 4 cubes mashed
1 package Lipton tomato cup of soup mix
There are actually 11 spices in the above combination, but an additional 3 ingredients were necessary to derive that special flavor. Place all ingredients in blender with on/off speed for 3 to 4 minutes to pulverize, or rub through a fine strainer. Store in an airtight container so it will not lose potency. To use with flour, add 1 ounce of the mix to 1 cup of flour for coating chicken.
